OKC: The biggest cover-up in US history

  • posted by Elmo on 2001-05-13 00:00:00

Whoa! Talk about your last minute saves!!!!! Looks like America's most
infamous terrorist may well be rescued from the jaws of impending death by
yet another case of FBI bungling. Shocker of all shockers--looks like the
FBI "misplaced" some 3,135 documents that should have been provided to
self-confessed OKC bomber Tim McVeigh during the discovery phase of his 1997
trial in Denver. Ironic how in the controversial new book about him,
"American Terrorist", he said he was looking forward to dying for his cause,
but now he wants a stay of execution. As we've seen time and time again,
the most ridiculous technicalities can spare the most diabolical of people
from the justice they deserve. Let's hope this isn't one of those cases.

But I can't honestly say I was surprised by the fact that the FBI withheld
evidence from the trial. It is the fact that this has been made public
knowledge that I found shocking. I've known for years that there was more
to the OKC bombing than the official story. Although I have some conspiracy
theories of my own, I am pretty skeptical as a general rule and I don't
believe every wild-eyed conspiracy theory that comes across my desk--and
I've seen some dooseys over the years. But I am open-minded enough to take
a look at the evidence, when there is some to back it up. And sometimes, as
in the cases of the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King, it is just
too great to ignore. As much as I'd like to, I just can't be like that
ostrich in the Looney Tunes who would always stick his head back in the
sand. I can't say for sure who killed either of them, but neither can I
ignore the mountain of evidence that refutes the "official" story in both
cases.

But for all the hoopla over those famous conspiracies, neither can hold a
proverbial candle to the discrepancies in the OKC bombing. For the record I
do believe Timothy McVeigh had an instrumental role in the bombing and
deserves to die. I mean, he even admitted to it. But while I believe him
on that, I do have a lot of trouble believing him when he said he acted
alone. For one, if he is as much a zealot for his cause as he claims, why
wouldn't he be willing to take the full rap to protect his co-conspirators.
Besides, while the evidence certainly confirms his involvement, it does not
support the possibility that he could have pulled it off by himself with
nothing but a Ryder truck full of ANFO.

After the news of the withheld documents surfaced, the Justice Department
issued this statement along with the month-long stay of execution: "If any
questions or doubts remain about this case, it would cast a permanent cloud
over justice," said Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Well Mr. Ashcroft, this gives new meaning to the idea of blind justice. I
mean, there are so many clouds over justice right now that I'm surprised
you guys can even see your hands in front of your faces. There are a whole
lot of us out here with a whole bunch of questions and doubts. Although
this list will appear huge to the casual reader, the reality is that these
are but a few of them...

...

1. There are volumes of conflicting testimony in the early media reports
during the hours immediately following the blast, before the "fix" was in

An analysis of raw news footage and broadcasts by KWTV-9, KFOR TV-5 and
Channel 4 in the immediate aftermath of the bombing shows local television
reporters stating repeatedly that two additional, sophisticated, undetonated
explosive devices were found by investigators on the scene.

TV news footage showed Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department bomb squad
vehicles being brought to the scene within a half-hour of the explosion,
"amid reports" that "more bombs have been found" by rescuers.

Also, reporters at the scene confirmed that the two other bombs were larger
than the first one, and that the bomb that had exploded blew up inside --
not outside -- the building.

Reports said the other two bombs were found on the east and west sides of
the building; the explosion occurred at the front, or north side, of the
building.

In one clip, the medical director for St. Anthony's Hospital told reporters
that local OKC police had informed him that rescue efforts had been called
off temporarily "because of the other bombs found in the building. "

And, TV-9 reported that "the U.S. Justice Department has confirmed" that
other bombs were found in the structure.

In subsequent reports, within the first few hours of the explosion, news
crews were reporting that federal and local authorities had confirmed that
the two other explosives had been "defused" and "moved off site."

Early news reports indicated government sources were saying that "bombs were
brought into" the Murrah building, and that because they were able to find
undetonated devices, authorities would be able to "find out who is
responsible" for the bombing.

In one clip, Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating also confirmed the presence of
other explosives.

"The reports I have are that one device was deactivated [and] apparently,
there was another device. Whatever did the damage to the Murrah building was
a tremendous a very sophisticated explosive device. " Keating was heard
saying.

One TV news report then said that then-President Bill Clinton "has called
Gov. Keating and said three FBI anti-terrorist teams" were being sent from
Washington, D.C., to OKC, ostensibly to investigate the incident. The report
further stated that "the White House and Justice Department have said [the
bombing] was the work of a sophisticated group and would have to have been
carried out by an explosives expert."

McVeigh and Nichols were not explosives experts, critics of the government's
official version of events point out.

...

2. There is some official documentation to back up these media reports

A Department of Defense Atlantic Command memo, issued one day after the
bombing, says " a second bomb was disarmed; a third bomb was evacuated. "

A Federal Emergency Management Agency "SitRep" (situational report), dated
April 20, 1995, also confirms the presence of three bombs inside the
building. And a U.S. Forces Command daily log report from the same day said:
"Two more explosive devices were located vicinity the explosion site.
Evidently intended for the rescuers."

Finally, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol radio log said, "OC Fire Dept. confirms
they did find a second device in the bldg/OK. "

...

3. If the bombing of the Alfred E. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City
was a terrorist reprisal for the Federal massacre of the Branch Davidians at
Waco, why were no BATF or FBI agents injured? Why was EVERY BADGE-CARRYING
FEDERAL AGENT absent from work at nine o'clock on a weekday morning, their
offices staffed only with civilian clerical workers?

...

4. Why was U.S. Judge Wayne Alley, whose office was located in the Federal
building, warned several weeks in advance in a Justice Department memo to be
prepared for an unnamed "terrorist act" directed against the Federal
building?

...

5. Judge Alley made the above admission to the Portland Oregonian
immediately after the bombing. He has since refused to repeat it or allow
himself to be interviewed again. Why?

...

6. Why did Ken Stern fax warnings to Federal judges and officials,
legislators, and prosecutors warning of a possible attack on a government
building of installation on the second anniversary of Waco on April 10th,
1995, nine days before the OKC bombing?

...

7. "Norma," a witness who worked in an office building just down the street
from the Federal building, told reporter Sherry Koonce what she saw prior to
the explosion: "The day was fine, everything was normal when I arrived for
work at about 7:45 a.m. There was some talk about the bomb squad among the
employees at our office. We wondered what it was doing in our parking lot.
Around nine I heard and felt a huge explosion. Then someone said it had to
be a bomb, and we all knew. I remembered the bomb squad in our parking lot
and knew what had happened."

"Norma" has since quit her job, gone into hiding and refused to speak again
to any reporters or investigators. So have a number of other people who saw
the heavily armed and equipped bomb squad in the area up to three hours
before the blast. Why?

...

8. Why did all mention of the facts outlined in the above questions
disappear from the news media after the first week of coverage of the
bombing? Why has the media consistently suppressed and refused to report any
information or evidence which indicates that, at the very least and
regardless of who was responsible, there was Federal foreknowledge that the
bombing would take place?

...

9. According to the prosecution, McVeigh used an ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate and
Fuel Oil) bomb to destroy the Alfred P. Murrah federal building. McGyver
makes it look real easy on TV. But according to Department of the Army and
Air Force Technical Manual No. 9-1910, entitled Military Explosives, ANFO
requires a greater than 99% purity of ammonium nitrate, as well as a
specific dryness, before it can be mixed with diesel fuel to create an
explosive substance. The manual further spells out that even under ideal
conditions (not often reached even by experts) 4,800 pounds of ANFO
explosive would create a much smaller crater than the one left in front of
the Murrah building, and its shock wave could not possibly wield the force
necessary to compromise the building's concrete support structure. The FBI
claims that the ANFO charge was made from 50 bags of fertilizer. Ammonium
nitrate fertilizers comes in much weaker concentrations than the 99%-plus
required for explosives. Creating concentrated amounts of ammonium nitrate
is quite complex, and would require many bags of fertilizer. In short,
according to the government's own textbook, the Oklahoma City bombing COULD
NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE WAY THE FBI SAYS IT HAPPENED. IT IS A PHYSICAL,
CHEMICAL, AND THERMODYNAMIC IMPOSSIBILITY. Why is the FBI lying?

...

10. Retired Air Force Brigadier General Benton K. Partin, former commander
of the Air Force Armament Technology Laboratory, a 25-year expert in the
design and development of bombs, urged Senators and Congressmen to delay the
destruction of the Murrah building site. Partin stated in a news release,
"When I first saw the picture of the truck bomb's asymmetrical damage to the
Federal building in Oklahoma, my immediate reaction was that the pattern of
damage would have been technically impossible without supplementary
demolition charges at some of the reinforced concrete bases inside the
building, a standard demolition technique." Partin further explained that
"reinforced concrete targets in large buildings are hard targets to blast. I
know of no way possible to reproduce the apparent building damage through
simply a truck bomb effort."

His exhaustive study, completed July 30, 1995 -- less than three months
after the bombing -- concluded that explosive charges, or "demolitions,"
were most likely placed inside the structure at key points designed to
"bring the building down."

General Partin's request to have the bomb site preserved in order to examine
the possibility of a second explosion was ignored by the government. Why?

...

11. There have been repeated studies done by a variety of accredited
explosives experts and professional demolition contractors, such as former
FBI agent Ted Gunderson. All of these have stated their professional opinion
that the destruction of the Murrah building could only have been
accomplished with top-grade military explosives, detonators, and careful
placement of multiple charges. Why have the media ignored these expert
opinions? Why, indeed, have the media engaged in a concerted campaign to
abuse, vilify, discredit and marginalize as a "crank" or a "right-wing
extremist" any explosives expert or engineer who questions the official FBI
version of the bomb's construction and explosive power?

[Elmo's note: Ted Gunderson happens to be a Democrat, which for some reason
tends not to be the party of choice for "right-wing extremists." Go figure!]

...

12. Two weeks after the bombing, Time and Newsweek magazines both ran
"artist's conceptions" of the "immense 30-foot crater" allegedly left by the
Ryder truck bomb. But news footage in the aftermath of the bombing showed no
such crater.

Also an independent aerial photo was taken of a Ryder truck the size used in
the attack parked at an Army facility near Camp Gruber-Braggs, Okla.,
outside of OKC, in the days leading up to the attack. Coincidence?

...

13. Witnesses reported seeing three men in the parking garage of the Murrah
building (it had nine stories above ground and had a four-floor parking
garage underneath) working with "electrical equipment and pointing at
various parts of the garage in the days before the attack. Many survivors
reported that some of these men were dressed in Government Services
Administration uniforms but had never seen them before or since.

...

14. FBI agents are said to have tracked down McVeigh's truck rental agency
by finding a vehicle identification number (VIN) on the truck's rear axle...
No rear axle on any vehicle manufactured in America is imprinted with a VIN,
even after recent legislation forcing manufacturers to place multiple VINS
on the engine, firewall, and frame to discourage chop shops. When queried, a
spokesman for Ryder told reporters than it does not imprint additional VINS
on its trucks. The only conceivable number available on a rear axle is a
part number, but a part number couldn't lead to the identification of a
specific vehicle. We have here another case where the FBI version of events
simply COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED in the way the Bureau claims it happened.
Where did the VIN story come from? Why has it been created and circulated by
the media?

...

15. Why was the reaction of the Clinton administration, blaming right-wing
radio talk shows for the incident and demanding the most draconian police
state legislation ever proposed in the United States, so swift and obviously
organized? The air of orchestration about the entire government response did
not escape notice even at the time, and was commented on by a number of
observers across the political spectrum.

A blizzard of OKC-inspired "domestic terrorism" bills were rushed into
Congress in a matter of days, some of them pre-written and already printed
up BEFORE THE BOMBING. These proposed laws cover everything from banning
virtually all privately owned firearms to unlimited and court-admissible
Federal wiretaps to censorship of the Internet to the suspension of habeas
corpus in "terrorism" cases to the grotesque destruction of the First
Amendment advocated in Charles Schumer's bill H.R. 2580, which imposes a
five-year prison sentence for publicly engaging in "unseemly speculation"
and publishing or transmitting by wire or electronic means "baseless
conspiracy theories regarding the Federal government of the United States".
Who decides what is a "baseless conspiracy theory"? Why, the very same
government, of course.

[Elmo's note: I guess this email would make me a felon, huh? Good old
Chuckie boy--never met an anti-Constitutional bill he didn't like!]

How was a normally cumbersome, inefficient, and glacially slow legislative
branch able to move so quickly, so comprehensively, and so efficiently in
introducing these laws which would strip Americans of what remaining
freedoms they have?

...

So we have a ton of questions. What we need are some real answers. All
we do have is a ton of THEORIES out there attempting to answer some of
these questions. So here are a few of them in no particular order.

-- McVeigh received aid from Saudi terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

-- McVeigh received aid from Iraqi soldiers who received asylum in the
United States after the gulf war.

-- The Oklahoma City bombing came about because the government fouled up an
investigation into a nearby racist organization. When the ATF received
warnings about the upcoming attack, squabbling between the ATF and the FBI
led the government to mistime its defensive operation.

-- McVeigh is a government agent.

-- The government bombed the building itself as an excuse to enact
legislation giving it broader law-enforcement powers. Authorities removed
evidence of this, including fragments of two or more other bombs placed
inside the building.

-- The Justice Department leaked news of the withheld evidence to delay the
execution or to distract the public for unknown reasons.

-- The news media is exaggerating the importance of the evidentiary papers
to overturn the death penalty.

Keep in mind I am not accusing anyone of anything, since I don't know the
full story. I just know that I am personally convinced that the evidence
proves beyond a reasonable doubt that there has been a massive cover-up of
crucial information surrounding the OKC bombing, which could not have
followed the "official" story. I will leave it to you, the reader, to
decide for yourself what you believe.

As stated above, I cannot bury my head in the sand. Can you?
